csszengarden had that effect on me, as well. I always knew the benefits
of CSS design, I just always found those sites to be dull and look the
same. I eventually did completely redo my personal site bascue.org to
an all CSS layout and while it pales in comparison to csszengarden and
many others, I was able to come up with something I liked after a
while.

Just be aware that when you are used to just slapping together a nice
looking site using tables, trying the same thing in CSS is really
aggravating and time-consuming, but it's time well-spent in my opinion.
I pretty much do all my layouts with pure CSS now.
