Never seen the wire...not watching Kingdom Hospital...but I did like Oz.

At first, I had no desire either...thinking there was no good reason to
watch an HBO show about a men's prison.  But friends kept recommending it
highly, so I gave it a shot, and it was a really good show.

There was a season or two that Tom Fontana (the creator) didn't do the
writing, and it showed (I think that was the season that some of the inmates
volunteered for drug testing, and a few started aging rapidly...it was
just...bad).  Other than that, it kept you on the edge of your seat.  You
never knew who was going to make it from one ep to the next (regardless of
their 'star power' or how well established the character was on the show').
Anybody could go at any time.

Was sorry to see it end.
