sorry to hear that. I vote with the guys saying be available and give lots of hugs :) There is little you CAN say, and whatever you say you may be treading into an emotional minefield. A lot depends on how close the two were. I remember being terrifically insulted when an employer told me *she* would not take off work to go to a great-uncle's funeral. Sure, I explained that this was a great-uncle I saw every summer when I was a child, but it would have been better if I had not had to.
