The [http://ugrid-conventions.github.io/ugrid-conventions/ UGRID]
(unstructured grid) and [http://sgrid.github.io/sgrid/ SGRID] (staggered
grid) conventions extend CF, but have been developed separately from CF,
each with separate documentation, revision control and governance.
We would like to strengthen the connections between these conventions by
bringing UGRID and SGRID into CF. We would follow the CF governance rules
for making changes to UGRID and SGRID, and reference specific versions of
UGRID and SGRID when releasing new versions of CF.
So {{{Conventions='CF-1.8'}}} might mean that {{{UGRID-1.0}}} and
{{{SGRID-0.3}}} also apply.
