When I was working through a recruiter or at least I guess that is what they were called, I happened to get told one time what they were charging for me and it was somewhere in the 200-300% range over what I was getting paid. I typically stay away from those situations these days, more because of my dislike with having to deal with them all the time. I actually made more money working through them at a lower hourly rate than what I work at being self-employed due to the tax differences.
