While it's true that encryption in CF has been compromised, there are still a couple of good reasons for using it. Number one reason is that the customer, not being a programmer, probably does not know about cfdecrypt.exe or does not know how to use it. The only thing they know is that the files are encrypted. Of course, that is a pretty shallow argument - but valid none-the-less. The second reason, and probably the best one, is that if a customer illegally decrypts your code, you can then really take him to task in court. Unlike non-payment of debt, hacking someones' encrypted code for the purpose of monetary gain (ie: being able to continue to use the site after the liscense has expired) is very often a jailable offense. Hacking code in that manner is tantamount to theft, usually grand theft. That is a very serious offense. > -----Original Message----- > From: Yanik [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Monday, August 07, 2000 8:26 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: Retainers and deadbeats > > > License ??? > > Any one know cfdecrypyt.exe ? > > There's no good security on Cold Fusion ! > > Yanik Lupien > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To Unsubscribe visit http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists&body=lists/cf_jobs or send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with 'unsubscribe' in the body.
