While it's true that encryption in CF has been compromised, there are still
a couple of good reasons for using it. Number one reason is that the
customer, not being a programmer, probably does not know about cfdecrypt.exe
or does not know how to use it. The only thing they know is that the files
are encrypted. Of course, that is a pretty shallow argument - but valid
none-the-less. The second reason, and probably the best one, is that if a
customer illegally decrypts your code, you can then really take him to task
in court. Unlike non-payment of debt, hacking someones' encrypted code for
the purpose of monetary gain (ie: being able to continue to use the site
after the liscense has expired) is very often a jailable offense. Hacking
code in that manner is tantamount to theft, usually grand theft. That is a
very serious offense.
