Q: Is this a reasonable request?
A: It totally depends on the client.
If your client is reasonable, pleasant to work with, respectful of your
time, fairly knowledgable (ie. aware of what kind of work is involved), and
is a well-organized, focused, and timely communicator...
$1000/month for maintenance and minor development can be a great gig.
But if not...
you'll start to realize what an amazingly small amount of money $1000 can
be.
Be sure you really know your client (and they know you) before get into any
'long-term' agreements... especially when it's any 'open-retainer'
situation.
If it were me, I'd suggest a trial period of a few months (to see if we
really see eye to eye on how the relationship will work) before I got into
anything long-term.
Just my $0.02

Subject: Anyone Interested?
So I have this client.
He's looking for a CF developer to work on a 'long term' basis.
$1000/month contract to maintain his live website. Ie. change around some
things, add new functionality etc.
He says, 'treat it like it's yours'.
Anyone interested? Is this a ridiculous request? Just asking.
