This person will lead the development of software and associated technical processes for producing online and print publications. The Lead Software Developer (LD) will be required to work with and manage internal staff and external consultants. The LD will also work closely with the product manager and other department leads in developing product specifications as well as to set and meet deadlines and group goals. Other responsibilities include helping to ensure network and system/software availability 24/7/365, setting and meeting of departmental goals, and mentoring/helping to develop the skill sets of a small software development group.
BA or BS required. MS Computer Science desired. 5-6 years programming experience with prior software management experience. Prior publishing experience a plus.
Technical Expertise: ColdFusion MX, Java, _javascript_, HTML, XML, PL/SQL, Oracle 8i required. Three-tier application development/testing required. SGML, Omnimark, IIS desired.
Familiarity with various platforms including Windows, Macintosh, and Unix. Ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a group. Needs to be able to translate visual representations and raw data into working, flexible, scalable software. Must have excellent communication skills to be able to translate between technical information and lay-people in other teams.
