Primary Responsibilities of Job:
The web programmer is responsible for the maintenance of existing database-enabled web applications as well as actively contributing to and participating in the development, testing and deployment of new applications for the various Kennedy Center and National Symphony Orchestra web sites and Intranet.   The sites are primarily written in Cold Fusion Markup Language, JavaServer Pages and Flash ActionScript.  The web programmer will work under the supervision of the Web Architect and with Web Content staff.  Candidate should be able to work collaboratively and follow design standards promoting code re-use and handle multiple projects concurrently.

Secondary Responsibilities of Job:
The web programmer will also assist the Web Architect with system administration, configuration, security, backup/recovery and troubleshooting tasks on web servers (currently IIS and Netscape) as well as statistical reporting.

Minimum Requirements:
Ideal candidate would possess 2-3 years experience creating Cold Fusion applications with at least a year of Flash development work.  Experience creating and maintaining JavaServer Pages and proficiency with XML/WDSL preferred.  Candidate should be familiar with relational databases, particularly Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and be able to create supporting queries and stored procedures for applications.  The applicant should have a history of acquiring new technical skills independently and aggressively in the technical areas described below.  The candidate must be available after hours as part of an emergency support pager on-call rotation, and occasionally available nights and weekends to perform upgrades and other work involving system downtime.

Technical Requirements:  
Proficiency with Cold Fusion Markup Language for Cold Fusion 6.1 preferred.  Familiarity with Cold Fusion Components, object-oriented design concepts, user-defined functions, and custom tags helpful.  The ideal candidate would be proficient with Flash MX ActionScript and have knowledge of  flash remoting.  Candidate should have an understanding of stored procedures and stored procedure programming for SQL Server 2000 or similar database as well as familiarity with MS Access 2000.  Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with HTML, _javascript_, JSP, XML with knowledge of other web programming languages helpful.  Knowledge of Java and EJB is a plus.  

Skill Level:  
In addition to technical knowledge identified above, the candidate must have problem-solving skills and prioritization skills.  The candidate must be able to independently complete assignments as well as function as part of a larger team consisting of web developer, content editors, graphic designers, systems analysts, and business units.
