A Major Company in New York City has a six month to a year Web Application Developer contracting opportunity. Description: Designing, maintaining and improving existing applications; as well as providing application development and troubleshooting for projects using Cold Fusion, Java, XML, PDF, SQL, PDF manipulation tools and other web development languages. In addition to top notch application development experience, graphic design skills are also helpful. It is critical that this team member can provide strong documentation and organizational skills to assist in strengthening IT operations. This individual should also be available to troubleshoot application errors on evenings and weekends. Requirements: Degree in computer science or equivalent. 3 - 5 years of experience with a web development team providing coding, testing and application design. Strong Knowledge of web programming languages including Java and Cold Fusion, and good knowledge of others such as PHP and Perl or Python. Ability to design XML data transfers and Web Services. Good knowledge of SQL and database development. Ability to switch tasks quickly and juggle multiple projects. Experience with Visio. Strong knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems. Strong team player with great understanding of project lifecycle. Ability to communicate and document work is crucial. Knowledge of Adobe PDF and Form tools is a huge plus. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of software process and quality assurance best practices. Unit Testing of Code is essential.
