signsearch, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to assume the role of Junior Application Developer. The successful filling of this new position will allow the company to accelerate what has been steady growth by building and launching a number of new initiatives. The Junior Application Developer will work out of our Burnsville office and report directly to our VP of Software Development. While this positionâs workload will focus on assisting with new database and Web application development and the support of existing applications, the job description may additionally include such varied tasks as general in-house technical support, (both hardware and software), server management activities, (currently Windows 2003 with Exchange Server), reporting and analysis, and Internet Marketing. We anticipate an approximate 75 / 25 split respectively between development project activities and these other types of responsibilities. The diversity of tasks this individual will be asked to perform, and the range of skills these activities will require, make this a challenging yet exciting growth opportunity. Our existing primary applications consist of an MS Access Project front-end / MS SQL Server back-end in-house marketing database, and a Macromedia ColdFusion MX-powered / MS SQL Server database-driven web site. However, the specific technology utilized for any given initiative has been, and will continue to be, selected based on a âbest tool for the job at handâ methodology, with our current applications making at least some use of each of the following technologies / languages: - HTML, CFML, JavaScript, VBA, SQL, CSS, XML, XSLT, ASP, Visual Basic, Perl, PHP, DHTML The Junior Application Developer will be expected to have a very good working knowledge of our current core technologies - HTML, CFML, JavaScript, VBA, and SQL â and a proven ability and willingness to become sufficiently familiar with the rest. While this position is expected to require very limited interaction with customers, the Junior Application Developer must be prepared to periodically remotely troubleshoot customer use of web site-related difficulties, and offer daily in-house technical support to company employees. The Junior Application Developer must therefore demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with both clients and team members through the use of good written and verbal communication skills. The Junior Application Developer must be a true team player yet possess the ability to work independently without close, constant supervision. Additionally, the Junior Application Developer must have a demonstrated ability to assist in identifying, recommending and implementing programming languages and technologies appropriate to the project at hand.
