VShift is an interactive agency providing website strategy & development, web marketing and email campaign management to our corporate, advocacy and political clients. We operate a proprietary platform, based on ColdFusion MX 7 that allows us to rapidly deploy and operate websites and email marketing campaigns. Our company was founded in March 2006, has 25 clients and currently employs 8 staff.
The Position The Web Engineer will work as part of a team deploying websites for our clients. You will also work on projects that extend or improve the core functionality of our platform. In this role, you will be responsible for working with account and project managers to understand the objectives of the project. You will receive written requirements from the project manager, and designed pages and other graphical elements in PSD format from designers. You will then build the site using ColdFusion, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other tools. Our platform is based on ColdFusion MX 7 and MSSQL Server. We operate a redundant environment with multiple load-balanced servers. You must be able to communicate well with both internal and external constituents. You will work with product, management, and account teams to define project plan and budget. You also will play a very important role in suggesting improvements to the core product as well as improvements in our software development process. Key Responsibilities * Understand project requirements * Write specification documents for new development * Implement sites in ColdFusion MX 7, HTML, CSS and JavaScript * Follow software development guidelines * Report status to manager and project managers, as required * Champion improvements to our core product and software development practices Candidate Qualifications * 3+ years of web software development experience, including JavaScript, CSS, HTML. Flash, Flex and Ajax are a plus. * 1+ years of experience with ColdFusion * 3+ years of experience with MS SQL Server * Solid experience in working with images using tools such as Photoshop * Experience in web-based software development through entire life cycle * Strong communications and organizational skills * B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
