Applications Development Manager - Truckee, CA (Lake Tahoe)

Description/Job Mission Statement 
Reporting to the VP of Technology, this position will work closely with the 
Project Management Office; this hands-on Applications Development Manager will 
lead the development, enhancement and maintenance of web-based business 
applications for both internal and external use.

responsible for managing large development projects simultaneous with many 
smaller, yet high priority, iterative system additions and modifications. This 
position requires an entrepreneurial desire to extend our positive market 
position through highly tailored, highly flexible systems. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 
• Manage a development team of 10 or more direct reports, including software 
developers and software quality assurance engineers, performing performance 
reviews, compensation discussions, skills development, career planning and 
recruiting new talent as required to manage varying workload 
• Manage Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and methodologies for all 
web-based applications and software 
• Responsible for all code reviews 
• Project management, including resource allocation, capacity planning, 
scheduling, risk management, issue resolution and productivity metrics tracking 
• Defining, implementing, and maintaining best-of-class processes, 
procedures, and tools to enhance existing development processes and 
productivity 
• Participation in new content projects for web-based applications working 
closely with the VP of Technology, Project Management, Product Management and 
Usability Design 
• Mentoring and leading the team to the successful implementation of content 
edits and in delivering these changes to the applications on schedule while 
achieving quality objectives 
• Working closely with Product Management, Usability Design, SQA, and Release 
Management to ensure efforts for frequent application updates are successful 
• The position requires 24/7 on-call rotations by the manager to support any 
release or site issues pertaining to their team's work. 

Job Qualifications 
• Requires Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related discipline, 
plus 7 years of experience in web development 
• Requires 5+ years of ColdFusion application development experience 
• Requires 2+ years of Java/J2EE application development experience 
• Requires 5+ years of experience managing teams of 10 or more direct reports 
in a dynamic fast-paced, growing environment 
• Requires 3-5 years proven leadership experience managing a web development 
function; a successful track record of delivering web-based applications on a 
frequent release schedule 
• High technical competence, track record of strong technical accomplishments 
• Ability to develop and mentor other developers 
• Ability to transform business processes into solid design and development 
methodologies 
• Architecture, design, and development experience including hands-on 
knowledge of key web development technologies such as: HTML, JavaScript, XML, 
AJAX, and Web Services 
• Experience with bug management and source control systems including an 
understanding of merge and release paradigms within a software development 
organization. CVS and/or Bugzilla experience are a plus 
• Project planning and prioritization experience with knowledge of project 
management methods, practices and software. MS Project and/Visio experience are 
a plus 
• Ability to write technical documentation, including code guidelines and 
best practices; ability to make technical presentations to Marketing, Product 
Management and various levels of management 
• Ability to thrive under pressure and function and deliver effectively in a 
fast-paced environment providing leadership skills and manage multiple projects 
simultaneously 
• Ability to successfully troubleshoot, analyze and resolve issues in 
stressful situations and in working with cross functional teams 
• Career progression from software developer into a lead developer function 
then onto a software development manager role is a plus 
• Ability to enthusiastically support management’s initiatives as they seek 
to provide efficiencies to priority customers with highly dynamic requirements 
• Excellent verbal/written communication and analytical skills and the 
ability to work well within a dynamic, fast-paced environment and with varying 
levels of management 

Additional Qualifications 
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to multitask 
and switch gears quickly and effectively 
• Must have uncompromising standards of quality in performing job function, 
an eye for detail and on time delivery  

Compensation 
Salary range $110K-$150K (DOE) plus medical benefits (with no employee playroll 
deduction), matching 401K plan, paid time off, and relocation assistance is 
available
