The Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies (CMJS) at Brandeis University (http://www.brandeis.edu/cmjs/), a multi-disciplinary research institute based in Waltham, MA seeks a Web Applications Specialist to design and implement innovative web applications for a cutting edge, research and collaboration web portal. The site will facilitate data and knowledge sharing, and social exchange between CMJS and professionals engaged in research about Jewish education. The site is funded by the Jim Joseph Foundation, and candidates will be working directly with researchers.
Primary Responsibilities: * executing the development/integration of functionality for existing web applications (about 50% of the work) * design and prototyping of new functionality (about 25% of the work) * coordinating acceptance testing as part of the design/development process (about 25% of the work) Job Requirements: * a minimum of 2-5 years experience developing web-based applications with Cold Fusion (both user interface and application programming) * strong experience with relational databases and MS SQL Server * strong experience with CSS, JavaScript, and DHTML * an ability to organize a project from start to finish, including strong communication and documentation skills * a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years experience in developing web-based applications, preferably related to content management and databases. In addition, candidates should bring one or more of the following skills to the team: * experience developing database queries and presenting query output in a web interface * prototyping methodologies for interface and process design * usage and implementation of web analytics * usage and implementation of CMS based web sites * experience with Cold Fusion and Programming, particularly for database-based web applications The position is for a contractor, for 3-6 months, with the potential to work on additional projects.
