The database and CF server are on the same box.
Did you have to specify a username and password to connect? Do I need to
tell MySql who is allowed to have access?
I am new at this sorry?
This is what I did. 1- Created a database on MySQL called testcf
2- I created a table call testable
3- Added some data to the table
4- Selected MySQL ODBC
5- Created a datasource called testodbc and databasename is testcf
6- Verified my datasource failed.

I've got RH 6.2, and didn't have any problems.
make sure the database exists on mysql and you've given permissions for the
machine CF is hosted on to access the mysql database and associated tables.
