We are going to do it actually.  We wrote the TDS driver I mentioned 
before.  We have probably written more ODBC drivers than anyone else 
actually (50+) .  If you want more info on the others see

Once the MDB Tools project is a little closer to usable and we can 
free up some time we will do the ODBC driver for it.  Probably 
February time frame.

I know there are people working on an Oracle driver that doesn't need 
the client libraries.  www.unixodbc.org but I don't think there is 
anything on the site about it yet.
