Jesse,
I'm not sure what else I could tell you for justification besides, "I'd buy
it". Maybe other developers could tell you the same thing (probably off list
would be best). Also a quick survey (formal or informal) at the Developers
Conference or CF User Groups might be in order. I can justify keeping
windows as my main OS less and less every day. I would sure hate to give up
CF Studio when I make the switch.
Thanks for listening,
Dave Livingston

Well, here's the thing. I'd love to be able to say "hey! we should do this"
but I *need* to justify the manpower and time. that's the entire issue, how
do i justify to the management people the opening of a new project, that
requires alot of dev time and QA, AND support? That's the thing, if the port
is done by MACR, it will be a long process, and once again, I need to find
the rationale and reason behind porting to Linux.
I *want* a port, but that doesn't mean MACR *should* port it. Firts, I need
to prove that there is a revenue stream, the cost is justified, etc.
I do alot of open source work, and in this, I understand the corporation
that much better, they need justification. I've tried saying "Do it for the
developers" but unfortunatly, I'm not a business person, I can't give them
the charts and graphs they want.

I still say I'd be just as happy with a wine-port of Studio, just like IBM's
wine-port of WebSphere Studio... Also with perspective from outside, I
wonder exactly how hard something like this is...
