Dave,

I wish I could just ditch the FoxPro/DBase idea, but here's my quandry:

I have sites and portions of sites that I work on for clients. These will
not be hosted on the Linux box in the end. The Linux machine is simply a
development environment. The work that I do needs to be interchangable from
Linux to NT without any huge rigamarole on the "promotion" side (from Linux
to NT but not vice-versa). Also, the table structure is the main thing I am
worried about at the moment.

In addition I have PostGreSQL installed but have never had any experience
using it. What is it similar to? SQL Server?

I would agree that using a DBMS would be faster/better than a file-based,
single threaded access for a database solution. My biggest worry is in
being able to convert back to NT and Access when I'm done. Client's call,
not mine.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tell the folks at the DFWCFUG I said hi!

Hatton,
If you aren't stuck with FoxPro/DBase try PostgreSQL www.greatbridge.com or
www.postgresql.org . There is a tool called pgAdmin that will easily port
your Access DB to postgres. Postgres is free, there is a lot of support and
tools for it. <CF_generalized_uneducated_comment>And depending on what
you're doing it probably kicks FoxPro/Dbase's
butt.</CF_generalized_uneducated_comment>
Also here is a link to the pgAdmin tool...

Hope that helps,
