just setup in administrator/ actually everything I said regarding this is MX
on Windows. I presume MX on Linux is the same deal.

It is there to support DBs/datasources that have no Native JDBC drivers but
do have ODBC drivers.
Most good dbs have Native drivers at this stage ..
