Not that I'm aware of, I'm not using Linux anymore for CF, but as far as I recall we used the Merant ODBC drivers for MySQL and hadn't any problems (but then we didn't use MySQL for "important stuff", that was Oracle's job, so maybe nobody ever tried entering such a large blob of text). Oh, one thing to check is that your web browser isn't limiting the amount of characters that can be displayed in a textarea - just do a quick length check on the submitted form field to make sure the correct value is being passed to your query and it is actually a database driver issue.
