We've actually looked into htdig... and I don't think it will work. (Please correct me if I am wrong, I haven't actually used htdig... only done a short evaluation to see if it might help us)

So I had a bright idea... let htdig index the pdfs, and then have cf index the db that htdig uses... but it appears htdig uses a unix flatfile db in a binary format... so I can't do that.
