Just wanted to check the status of CFMX for Red Hat 8.0. I recalled it not
being officially supported yet by Macromedia. Has anyone had a success =3D

RH 8? I've just installed one but being very new to Linux is quite a big
change, especially for a Windows user like myself. So, i'm forcing myself =

blue curve is somewhat cool.
any recommended text to pick Linux quick from the point of a Window's =3D

Thanks.

Well yes i have been able to run CFMX on a redhat 8.0 install... I did =
that
for my dev server a while back...
But i found this:
1. you will need to install apache if not already
2. Get the latest (i have 1.4.1) Sun JVM (JRE i think is what it is called
now) <--- Note: Get the RPM it is just faster that way opposed to the tar
file
3. install (obviously)
4. get and run the cfmx installer for linux
5. DO NOT START YET!
6. get and run the cfmxupdater for linux
(http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/downloads_updates.html)
7. then start coldfusion (service coldfusionmx start)
-If you get an error message with something about mod_jrun20.so err
something then it may not be using the new java.
-Havent figured that part out yet. my first attempt i ran into that but i
didnt install the new java before running the mx installer.
8. then start apache (service httpd start)
Hope that helps...
Again none of this is the "official" way of running CFMX on RH8

I can confirm this works, the only thing you have to be sure and not do is run
wsconfig.jar. The jre that comes with cfmx accepts all the switch however
the one from sun bombs. jrun isn't actually installed on apache though (no
load module at the end, no handler information for jsp, etc) Otherwise yeah
everything (CF of course) runs fine.
