I had mentioned in a reply earlier that I had tried that patch, and I got
the exact same error. So I did not have any other info to add on...

This is far from an enterprise based server - just learning, etc.

I have narrowed it down to a MySQL issue. It seems as though mysql will
accept the connection if I start it so that it doesn't need an id. And also
- any gui's that are running else where also have this issue - so I am
trying to get help here - but would appreciate any contact from some mySQL
admin's off list!
