I'm trying to get Apache 2.0.46 installed on my test server, and I need SSL installed as well. However, I keep getting errors during the make of the Apache files. After a bunch of research, it turns out that I need OpenSSL 0.9.6e or later installed in order for Apache 2.0.43+ to work. My RedHat 7.2 installation apparently has 0.9.6b installed, and running an "up2date openssl" on it simply patches it to openssl-0.9.6b-32.7, but note that it stays at 0.9.6b.
So I went to the OpenSSL site and downloaded and successfully installed 0.9.7b on my machine (ran "./config shared"; make; make install), but when I now type "openssl version" at the prompt, I'm still getting 0.9.6b returned as my version!! What am I missing? How can I can the 0.9.6b version successfully updated? I can't simply remove the package because it has a ton of system dependencies and I can't afford to hose the machine right now. Any RedHat gurus out there with advice? Regards, Dave. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
