Those are fragment of the registry that CF was trying to write out from memory. Those files have always been associated with storing client variables in the registry file as far as I recall, where the registry file has grown too large (i.e. hundreds of KB into the MB range).  Other symptoms associated with this include taking a long time to start, a long time to stop, and generally running very slow.  Changing the storage to another choice like a datasource or cookies and removing the existing client variables from the registry file will significantly speed up the server if that is the case.

Subject: strange files in registry dir

Hello Everyone,

I'm using CF 4.5 on Red Hat Linux and noticed some strange files in my /registry
directory.  Here are the names:

fileTvAoIF.961756594
fileYMlZAo.541119454

It looks like some kind of temporary file.  The content appears to be a complete
registry file.  They were last modified sometime in August.

You guys think they're safe to delete?  Does anyone know where they came from?
My guess what some kind of file that might been created if the server crashed
(which it's been doing for a while now).
