I recently got out of the hosting biz (anyone need a Netscreen 50 or
Dell PowerEdge cheap?) precisely because of crap like you're going
through. I wouldn't have made it through the 3 years I was doing it
without Server's Alive. It's free to monitor up to 10 processes I
believe (or used to be). You can have it check your server every
minute and reboot or restart CF (I used to just use a batch file to
cycle the CF services) after 2 consecutive failures. You can also
have it e-mail you, or e-mail a pager, etc.
Whether you find an answer to your problem or not, this is a tool
you'll likely never want to be without after you use it. :)

Best of luck to you.
