Kansas City CF'ers, I have been talking with Macromedia recently about helping out with the local user group. Most likely I will be leading it up with website/listserv supported by Ron at Humandkind Systems (thanks Ron!!!).
Meanwhile, while we are working on a transition, I have been trying to setup some speakers/topics for the next few months. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts it may not always be feasible to have a 'formal' presenter at the meetings. Here are a few of the program ideas I'm working on (your feedback is appreciated): 1)Optimizing MS SQL server for CF applications - presented by Daryl Bantarri from MM - intermediate 2)Experiences and lessons learned consulting CF and selling CF tags/apps online @ www.bigosoftware.com - presented by Misty Woodward of Oleani 3)Coding/using Fusebox 3 - presented by Matthew Jones 4)Possibly some stuff on writing apps for a distributed employer and how he determines what features are needed etc. Still being discussed on what he would present - Keith Purtell 5)I will probably cover my impressions/experience doing a short term consulting project for a local company, will probably cover the difficulties with the interview/bidding process, specifications, working with Linux, Perl, PDFLib, and CF on a tight timeframe. Also we as a group should discuss the ramifications of CF6/Neo running on top of Jrun (MM's java server). It might be worth considering changing the group from CF to CF/Jrun (but not necessarily Java since there are other local Java groups) We have had a number of requests for some more beginner level CF content. Any suggestions? Most of our meetings tend to have an informal presentation on an intermediate level concept and then ad-hoc Q&A/discussions on whatever interests people (including beginner level content).
