Dear Alison, thank you for summing up and suggesting solutions. That brought us a big step closer to an agreement.
I'd like to comment on the new construction guideline you suggested: > a) In the 'Qualifications' section, change the pattern for constructing > standard names from > > [surface] [component] standard_name [at surface] [in medium] [due to > process] [assuming condition] > > to > > [surface] [component] [large-scale medium] standard_name [at surface] > [in local medium] [due to process] [assuming condition] > > Phrases like 'tendency_of', 'product_of' and 'square_of' are still missing. You native speakers will easily find a term for these calculation specification. These are placed in the front and might be added in the revised construction guideline. The chemistry part in the construction guideline: Once it was suggested that the chemistry names could be supervised by the chemistry people in the wiki Christiane set up. Was there any decision made on this? Besides, the 'expressed_as' phrase as (possible) part of standard names for chemical species should be mentioned in the chemical part of the construction guideline.
