Hi all,
In CMIP5, we have a variable in which grid cell areas are stored. It
has a standard name of cell_area.
We also have an ocean variable in which we store grid cell volumes.
This is named ocean_volume.
Is ocean_volume correct, or is that standard name reserved for the total
volume of the world's oceans?
Would it make more sense to define a new standard name "cell_volume",
which could apply to any domain?
