Dear Nan; Thank you very much for your time and explanations. Yes, you're right, I'm just reading data, not generating. And unfortunately I cannot see any related meta information about how to interpret the time and vertical dimensions in the datasets. Only in one of them there are "averaging_window" and "averaging_offset" attributes defined for U and V (current components), but I couldn't be sure if they are addressing my problem. Then what I understand is that, I should contact each of the dataset generators and ask about the details, which I did actually, but I cannot get a response either because the question is too trivial for them so that they don't bother answering, or otherwise there is already a commonly accepted and unwritten rule about how to interpret the data in terms of these issues :)) That is why I sent my question to this forum in the hope of getting an answer, because there also exist datasets with a 24 hour timestep and it becomes especially important in such cases.
Again thank you very much for your kind comments and help. Yilmaz _______________________________________________ CF-metadata mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.cgd.ucar.edu/mailman/listinfo/cf-metadata
