Yes, you're right, I'm just reading data, not generating. And
unfortunately I cannot
see any related meta information about how to interpret the time and
vertical dimensions in the datasets. Only in one of them there are
"averaging_window" and "averaging_offset" attributes defined for U and
V (current components), but I couldn't be sure if they are addressing
my problem. Then what I understand is that, I should contact each of
the dataset generators and ask about the details, which I did
actually, but I cannot get a response either because the question is
too trivial for them so that they don't bother answering, or otherwise
there is already a commonly accepted and unwritten rule about how to
interpret the data in terms of these issues :)) That is why I sent my
question to this forum in the hope of getting an answer, because there
also exist datasets with a 24 hour timestep and it becomes especially
important in such cases.
