Dear Heiko,

you are of course right that this cannot be the end of it. Yet, I think it
is very important to get these standard names into the list soon, because there
are already large data sets with these categories (the "ACCMIP" emissions
produced for chemistry calculations to support IPCC AR5, and "MACCity"
emissions which are employed in the quasi-operational MACC forecasts and
reanalyses). The issue of sector definitions had been discussed and in the end
the majority view was that we should follow the practical approach and adopt
what is already in use. Nevertheless, the emissions community should indeed
follow up on this and create a more comprehensive vocabulary. A good
opportunity to carry this forward might be the next GEIA conference in Toulouse
in mid June.

Best regards,

Martin
