Awkward. This would require me to create a coordinate variable specifically for this
variable (the way we define variables in our system doesn't allow for scalar
variables, so that is far more involved than desirable). Not the end of the world, it
is 'just' a support variable, and we can find other ways to proceed.
Your other new names look fine to me.
