#95: Development of CF 1.5 Data Model -----------------------------+---------------------------------------------- Reporter: markh | Owner: [email protected] Type: task | Status: new Priority: medium | Milestone: Component: cf-conventions | Version: Resolution: | Keywords: -----------------------------+---------------------------------------------- Comment (by markh): Replying to [comment:38 davidhassell]: > A domain axis has an identity ''in the model'' by virtue of the fact that it is a construct independent of other similar constructs. It doesn't have an identity in the same way that a coordinate has a standard name. Hi David I understand your point of view now, thank you, but I'm afraid I don't agree with your implications. I think our scope for this ticket is to define how the semantics of the data model provide clear relations between components to enable an implementation to provide such functionality however it sees fit. Whilst a programming language's internal referencing system may exist, I do not think any aspect of the data model can be dependent on such implmentation details. The model is an abstract, self consistent entity; the relationships need to be based on semantics (imho). As such I don't think we can use 'domain axis identity' as you describe it. -- Ticket URL: <https://cf-pcmdi.llnl.gov/trac/ticket/95#comment:39> CF Metadata <http://cf-pcmdi.llnl.gov/> CF Metadata This message came from the CF Trac system.
