If you are going to specify seconds (or yocto seconds), then is it necessary to specify what type of number (integer, real) it is, to make sure that the specified number can be large enough and precise enough to be useful? Specifically, if using some sort of integer and the number of seconds you need could exceed some types of integer, and if you are using real numbers there may not be enough precision to distinguish between one second and the next.
