I am adding the following sentences to the end of the first paragraph in 
Section 2.2 "Data Types":

    In many situations, any integer type may be used.
    When the phrase "any integer type" is used in this document, it should be 
understood to mean **`byte`**, **`unsigned byte`**, **`short`**, **`unsigned 
short`**, **`int`**, **`unsigned int`**, **`int64`**, or **`unsigned int64`**.

The wording seems a bit awkward, so please make suggestions and I will update 
the PR.
