Hello @Dave-Allured * I agree on sticking to the format illustrated in [section 4.4 Time Coordinate](http://cfconventions.org/Data/cf-conventions/cf-conventions-1.8/cf-conventions.html#time-coordinate) -- in ISO terminology this means accepting the extended format (which has year, month and day separated by "-") and excluding the ISO "basic format", which has a more compact string.
I also agree on the suggested approach to supporting zero and negative reference years with explicit specifications, and deprecating them in some cases. Also tend to favour allowing negative years in the `proleptic_gregorian`, as it appears to be designed for continuity going backwards in time. -- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
