I fully support this, it is a good step towards clarifying the meaning -- and use -- of different calendars, in particular together with what is discussed in #319 . And I support the changes suggested by Karl, with the addition that the use of "*gregorian*" should be coordinated with #319. If the last of the suggested changes (the one for the climatological-statistics section) is deemed out-of-scope for this issue, I think that it deserves its own focussed issue.
