Do you really need to use <cfinput>?  If not, then you can use a colon
in <input> without much further ado.  If there really is a need to
validate your form's input, why not code it on your own?  I'm sure there
are many open source libraries that will help you.

BTW, I hope I'm not mistaken, but I believe you can't use a hidden type
in <cfinput>
