If may just  be as simple as doing something like this..
When you click on the row, does  it pass that value to a form? if so..
on the form page do something like -  make sure session variables are turned 
on:
<cfset session.updateID =  form.id> where form.id is the form you came from.
That value will stay  in session.updateID for however long until the
session expires.. You can  pass it all around your code and pages and
utilize it.
