Starting with Coldfusion 6.0, and Macromedia's purchase of Allaire, Coldfusion was rebranded Coldfusion MX. Sorry- should have read "I'm relatively new to Coldfusion" a little more closely. In essence, you need Coldfusion 6.0 or above if you are using IIS 6.0. CF7 is the latest version, incidently.
