We've chosen to not go with .NET for several reasons.

1) From what I have heard, programatically, there's very little
advantage to moving to .NET from ASP. It's just like learning a new
language because the structure is so different.
2) .NET alters your code
2) I was taught how to program by a Java developer so I program using an
MVC architecture, which I've heard is problematic in .NET
3) I'm a control freak and .NET alters your code
4) Every page is one big form. :P
5) Our mission is to support people with disabilities. Last I checked,
..NET still alters your code and uses proprietary code. This isn't
accessibility friendly. (Though I know they made progress from the
initial release.)

:D

..NET was actually one of the first to go off the table. If I ran the
world I would go right to J2EE. But I don't. So for this one project
we're making a detour to CF.
