I have been trying all day to get it to work correctly.

I am trying to setup a virtual host for the website, but when I do that
everything starts to crap out on me.

I think that my problem is when I am installing coldfusion, I'm not sure
where to put the CFIDE folder. Should I put it in htdocs folder under
apache or in the wwwroot folder under coldfusion? I had it working
once. All that I'm trying to do is setup apache to host my
rentalprogram so that everyone in my office can use it, and the cf admin
page. I also want to be able to use dreamweaver for the coding and
testing.

Have you tried localhost/rentalprogram/index.htm rather than
localhost\rentalprogram\index.htm?

Seems that your root is set up to localhost\rentalprogram\...

Have you got any virtual hosts?

Can you access CF Admin correctly?
