Thank you for your reply Bilal,

I probably didn't explain myself with my first question properly, or maybe I'm
just getting the whole thing wrong from the start!

I only have one language installed on my system and only one keyboard layout
which is set to UK.

On my registration form, where I ask the user for their email address the UK
keyboard works just fine on the form (ie they press shift and ' to get the @
symbol.

Hovever on my home page where I ask the user to login to the website and use
<cfform> - the very same code for a text input box one needs to press shift and
" in order to get the @ symbol which is for a US keyboard.

I don't understand how one form works fine in producing the @ symbol on a UK
keyboard and yet a text input box on another form I get the " symbol.

NEWS FLASH.

I now understand its a problem with the FireFox browser not ColdFusion, it's to
do with wmode=transparent FF looses it's keyboard mappings and defaults to US
keyboard input irrespective of Windows language and keyboard settings.
