Hi, John...

In the last few months I've been working on learning to use
jQuery, including ajax, with CF. It's been work, but I'm making
progress. And, yes, there are few good examples out there right now.

I haven't worked with any of the built-in ajax functionality of CF8,
so I really can't compare the two approaches for you. However, I've noted
that some on CF-Talk have recommended using jQuery because it gives you
much finer control over the ajax functionality because you are actually
writing all the code. I would say that almost certainly true.

What exactly are you trying to do? Query a database and display data
in a table via ajax? Or does the datagrid provide functionality beyond
simple display?
