This entire "episode" could have been avoided if this was the tactic
that was employed in the first place...

"Ben and I have spoken privately, and the matter is settled and put to rest
between us."

If you have a problem with someone... this list included... first take the
most direct and *private* approach and address the situation with those
directly involved.

*After* it's resolved, then let everyone know the resolution and that all is
well. Addressing the issue publicly is often necessary if it's already a
public issue, but attempts to resolve the issue should be done privately,
not publicly.
Public battles have a way of escalating way beyond what is necessary
or helpful to bring a matter to a successful resolution...

I think this is a good lesson for all of us on the list for future issues
that
most certainly will arise.

The lesson I try to impart to organization in terms of handling their
PR is to trumpet the positive publicly and deal with problems privately.

Now... the issue between Brian and Ben is settled. "Can't we just all get
along?" :o)

Rick
