Thanks everyone for the help.

I finally got it working, but only after mucking about in the ODBC
configuration (as per Shane's suggestion) from the machine's Control
Panel.  There a little button in there that says something to the effect
of 'get additional configuration from the SQL server' and gives you a
space for a user name and password to log into the SQL server.  That
seemed to do it.
