so if, in your Textarea tag you use
WRAP=HARD CFMail should pickup your
Line Breaks.
ex.
On the form format your Textarea like this.

And I were to typein or cut and paste this text into the textarea

Hi,
I am creating a email interface and the problem I have is how to retain
the
format in which the user enters in the textarea ie the email message box and
when the recipient receives it he sees it in the same way....
When I enter line breaks or give extra space it does not retain then it
groups
it and displays the message.
