Dave Watts directed me here some time ago, these resources
were very helpful.

I had the "display all rows" errors in SQL Enterprise Manager
on a client, had to re-run the Windows 2000 install as an
"upgrade current os" and it fixed my broken MDAC.

It fixed the display rows issue, and also the Data Transformation
Wizard which was disfunctional.

These issues both arose after a CF Server upgrade from 451 to
451SP1 on W2K.

In response to your questions about MDAC releases, release-specific issues,

the Data Access SDK will include a version-specific release manifest.

Besides MDAC, you can also download the Component Checker tool from this

If you are installing MDAC 2.6 and also need to install the Jet components,
you can download a redistributable version of Jet 4.0 Service Pack 3. Read
the Jet 4.0 SP 3 release details.
