Thanks for the response.  It turned out to be that the user
we had entered as the Log On User for the CF services was
not a domain user.  Bit of a trick for young players there !

I once had a similar problem and I removed the datasource and re-added it 
and it seemed to resolve the problem.

I am not sure if this will work but it is worth the try.
