Tariq, Unfortunately like I mentioned before I can connect with ws_ping pro
pack fine which only connects annonymously. So i know it's not a username or
pwd issue. thanks though....

Curt. The error is "can't connect to the LDAP server" which means
the connection itself isn't happening. So you can't even begin to try
searching.
My guess is that you aren't specifying the username and password
fields. Eg:
username="cn=Directory Manager"
password="whatever"
